Kworld Dvd Maker 2 Software

OK, so i have decided to join the many who back up their old vhs tapes, to saved them for future viewing. At first I didn't really know how difficult or easy it would be. Now I would say that it's neigh on impossible. I've spent a total of 8 (yes, eight!) hours trying to get a successful feeb from my VCR to my laptop. All I got so far is nothing - blank screen, no sound nothing!
I realise that some people are saying that they have a bad picture quality, or bad sound - I wish I did. Basically i will try to tell you what ive done so far below;
I've just brought the Kworld DVD Maker USB 2.0 pack, including the 'capture box' and 2 CDs - Installation CD & Ulead movie factory CD. I have triied using both CDs and they both seem as rubbish as each other - and help pages / support - forget about it!! basically no existant.
i have tried wiring it up both through the tv and dirtect to the VCR. I have been sticking the yellow composite wire into the RF out port on the VCR (where i would usually plug it into the tv. nothing. I have tried using it with the sound cables in, but seeing as i cant even get a picture, i dont suppose i can get sound.
basically any and every combination ive tried i end up with the same result - a black screen. (the vhs is playing all the while im doing this)
i know that a lot of ppl are having trouble, so please could someone give me a step by step guide of how they set theirs up to get theie VHS to their pc, to be put onto dvd.
ive checked all the options/tick boxes and they all look ok? also i dont think its my laptop as its pretty new - about 4 months old.
im using xp if that helps
please please any suggestions....
Thanks
ross
